In "Floral Seated Warrior," Biggers brings together two of his most powerful bodies of work, transferring the silhouette of the “Seated Warrior” from his "BAM" series onto the surface of an antique quilt. The artist’s textile work positions him as a collaborator with the past, adding his own voice and perspective to those who made and used the antique quilts, whilst highlighting often overlooked cultural and political narratives in American History. Biggers’ quilt series will be the subject of "Codeswitch", a major survey exhibition opening at the Bronx Museum in Fall 2020. The exhibition will travel to be the inaugural exhibition of the Rivers Institute, where it will be on view at Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans and then at The California African American Museum in Los Angeles in 2021.
