FactSheet: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Marble slab and basin installation: The marble slab base should be placed on a leveled surface with the finished side (rounded edges) of the marble facing up. The marble slab should be placed 3 feet from the wall on which the painted components hang and parallel to it. The steel basin should be centered on the marble slab with 3/4" marble showing on each side. Pool fill-in: Each basin requires approximately 15 gallons of the pre-mixed mineral oil. This can simply be poured in from the containers included with the artwork, until the fluid surface is approximately ½” from the top of the basin. The mineral oil can develop a film on the surface; to avoid this, the fluid should be mixed every two weeks or as needed. The artist agrees to supply client with extra pre-mixed mineral oil should he/she require it. Mineral oil removal: The fluid can be removed with a wet/dry vacuum. Additional traces can be cleaned off the basin using a mineral oil spirit (suggested: Klean Strip or Sunnyside Mineral Spirits). The mineral oil can be reused and should be stored without exposure to extreme temperatures. Mineral oil mixture: The pool requires approximately 16 gallons of mixed mineral oil. First fill a bucket with approximately 10 gallons of mineral oil and set aside (suggested: Crystal Plus Food Grade Mineral Oil FG). In a separate bucket, combine 5 lbs of oil soluble pigment (titanium white) and 1 gallon of dispersion oil in a large bucket (this will bond the dry pigment to the mineral oil) . Gently blend mixture until smooth. Combine the mixture with the mineral oil by slowly pouring the mixture into the bucket containing the mineral oil, stirring frequently. Mix until well combined.
