For the 2005 51st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, Amer's "Yin Yang Garden" was installed at the Arsenale. Shaped as two ponds in the recognizable yin-yang symbol of equilibrium, the water garden was accessed through two narrow entrances whose bisecting walkway allowed viewers to cross the ponds in pairs, or at other points where space is restricted, alone. The garden was further experiential through the sense of smell and sound -- fragrant plants lined the walkway and circumference, while frogs and other water animals flourished in this microcosm.
